Step 1: Through your local hospital laboratory or regional testing laboratory, request Alpha-1 Antitrypsin serum level test. As established by the reference laboratories, an individual whose serum level is less than 1.15 g/L should undergo additional confirmatory tests for Alpha-1 Antitrypsin Deficiency.

Step 2: Confirmatory Alpha-1 Antitrypsin testing can be requested at one of the reference laboratories listed below. Samples can shipped to the Alpha-1 testing laboratories in Quebec for analysis. Please contact the respective Alpha-1 testing laboratory in Quebec for further details on sample requirements, shipment process and related fees.
